Studies show that both how long we live and how good we feel are linked directly to the foods we eat

Good foods promote healthy processes in the body and support the critical building blocks that keep our internal engine running smooth. Bad foods lead to our engine becoming clogged, over-stressed, and old before it's time.

In my previous life, I used to travel quite a bit. I’d be living out of hotel rooms 3-4 days a week and it was usually a different city every time. In other words, aside from getting to become intimately familiar with the DFW airport, I was always having to adjust to being in a different place. This meant finding places to get a decently healthy meal and trying to find a local gym or health club so I could maintain some semblance of a workout schedule.
After awhile I just got tired of hunting down a reasonably close fitness center and paying astronomical guest fees just to get access to what was typically a low quality gym with inferior and often broken down equipment.
I decided to forego the weekly gym hunts and instead focus on developing a body weight workout routine that could be done in a hotel room, or even better, somewhere outside. But I also wanted some variety that would give me some exercise choices beyond simple push-ups, body squats, and crunches.
So, I did some homework.

If you are already familiar with the benefits of omega-3 fatty acids and how fish oil supplements can help attain a healthy balance of these essential fatty acids, then you may want to scroll down to the ‘A Better Alternative?’ section.
It is well acknowledged in the scientific and consumer communities that taking in omega-3 fatty acids can improve your health.
Omega-3 fatty acids cannot be produced by the human body and are thus part of the “essential fatty acid” family. We can only get them from the food we eat or the supplements we take. Cold water fish, such as salmon and cod, are great sources of omega-3s.

There are three types of omega-3 fatty acids: alpha-linolenic acid (ALA), docosahexaenoic acid (DHA), and eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA). All of these act as anti-inflammatories in the body. Inflammation is a leading cause of many medical conditions including the deterioration of the cardiovascular (heart attacks, strokes, high blood pressure) and brain (depression, Alzheimer’s) systems. Inflammation is also primarily responsible for many of the effects of aging, including skin wrinkling, arthritis, and the degeneration of bone and tissue in the body.

Diet Coke. Diet pepsi. Crystal Lite. Any drink that tastes sweet but proclaims to be "sugar free".
All these have some form of artificial sweetener that is intended to replace the sweetness of sugar with some chemically manufactured substitute.

Why? Because sugar makes you fat and is not good for you. Or at least that's the marketing behind the push to include sweeteners such as Splenda, NutraSweet, and Equal in everything from sodas and fruit juices to candy and children's vitamins.
All the flavor and none of the calories.
Well, despite the happy, thin people seen guzzling diet sodas in television commercials, print ads, and Internet popups, there is some real scientific concern that those artificial sweeteners may not be healthy at all, and even might make you gain weight.
Let's review the current menu of sweeteners you might find on your grocery shelf

We have seen a sudden drop in the number of "celebrity" pitches for miracle supplement cures. Most attribute that to the flood of lawsuits Oprah Winfrey dropped on forty different supplement packaging companies. But I guess you can't keep a good scam down.

Back in July I exposed a web site that was a thinly veiled attempt to convince viewers that a legitimate television station news site was endorsing a resveratrol-based supplement.
You can find the original post here on my It Takes Work blog.
Well, we got the attention we were looking for.
As of a couple of months ago, this attempt to fool the Web viewing public into purchasing into a never-ending refill membership in to a "miracle" supplement program had been taken down. The site News 13 Direct now leads to a disabled server.
